Smart Mobility: MobiGoIn project will define an EU strategy on SMEs internalization

Lead by Torino Wireless Foundation, the project will involve over 1.100 member companies from four European clusters

The future of the mobility industry depends on the ability to compete through innovation and internationalisation, it requires that actors work together in a collaborative way, using the skills of the whole ecosystem. Clusters are unique tools to manage the complexity of a given situation and to give an interdisciplinary overview. Thus, the objective of MobiGoIn is to create a meta-cluster that could define a common strategy and an operation plan (target countries, support services and internationalization actions) to increase competitiveness of SMEs when approaching the global market.

MobiGoIn will focus in the Smart Mobility industry regarding the development and adoption of:

  • intelligent and cooperative transport solutions, which might be implemented as systems and/or services that take into consideration the needs of the final users, such as: sharing information and services among users, vehicles and infrastructures, on-board information management systems, journey planning and intermodal mobility solutions, traffic control systems, driving assistance and emergency management systems;
  • applications for fleet management, freight transport and last mile logistics optimization through the implementation of geolocation technologies;
  • enabling solutions for the usage, management and integration of green vehicles used for public and private transport in an urban and suburban context.

The MobiGoIn project is funded by the Programme COSME 2014 and will be developed over 17 months. The partners form a consortium of four clusters: Fondazione Torino Wireless (Italy), innovation and technological Cluster focused on ICT and Smart Cities and Communities. Within its network it has more than 800 interviewed and mapped companies that cover different industries within ICT, from which around 100 SMEs with experience in developing solutions for the Mobility market. bwcon (Germany): technological Cluster focused on ICT for Baden-Württemberg’s traditional industrial sectors, such as automotive and mechanical engineering, aimed at stimulating innovation and strengthening the competitiveness of the region’s economy. Its network accounts for more than 600 members, mostly SMEs. Media Evolution Southern Sweden AB (Sweden): media cluster and member organization that works to strengthen innovation and growth within southern Sweden’s media industries. Around 350 of its members are SMEs. Mov’eo (France): Mobility R&D competitiveness cluster. Mov’eo has 350 members, from which circa 180 are SMEs.

Thanks to MobiGoIn, clusters and businesses networks will begin to work together to meet Smart Mobility future challenges. MobiGoIn clusters are where collaboration begins, stays alive and succeeds thanks to a powerful and efficient ecosystem, and they make sure that SMEs receive crucial support for their development “from idea to market”. By offering added value services to SMEs (collaborative R&D projects, business opportunities, communication and training) and supporting them in their path beyond Europe, MobiGoIn contributes to European mobility excellence and to the competitiveness of Europe and the world.
