The European Programme eContentplus goes live

Published the call for proposals for 2005


Europe's Information Society

eContentplus is a Community programme for the period 2005 to 2008 to make digital content in Europe more accessible, usable and exploitable, facilitating the creation and diffusion of information, in areas of public interest.

Target areas

The present call is open for proposals for actions addressing the following areas:

  • Geographic information: to stimulate the aggregation of existing national datasets into cross border datasets, which will serve to underpin new information services and products
  • Educational content: to support the emergence of adequate information infrastructure, and encourage the use of open standards to stimulate the deployment of effective pan-European learning services
  • Cultural content and scientific/scholarly content: to support the development of interoperable collections and objects from cultural institutions (archives, libraries and museums…), and solutions to facilitate exposure, discovery and retrieval of these resources

It is further open for proposals for actions addressing the issue of

  • Reinforcing cooperation between digital content stakeholders


Participation and budget

Participation in the Programme shall be open to legal entities established in the Member States. The indicative overall budget available for this call is € 26.6 million of Community contribution.

The deadline for receipt of proposals by the Commission is 24 November 2005 at 17h00 (Luxembourg local time).
