Torino World Book Capital

For a whole year Torino and Piemonte will become an immense stage

This is a recognition of the role that Torino and Rome occupy in the world’s history of literature, publishing and culture, and their capacity to work together. But above all to the extraordinary commitment of the two cities to promote books and reading as occasions for civil development and solidarity between their own citizens and around the world.

For a whole year Torino and Piemonte will become an immense stage. Twelve months of events all under the banner of the love for books and reading. The heart of the programme in Turin is the idea that won it the award by UNESCO as World Book Capital: Sign Language. And the idea of the Grand Re-tour starts out from Torino.

For centuries, a journey to Italy was part of the education of European intellectuals. Today, the Grand Tour returns thanks to Turin World Book Capital. A Grand Re-tour from Sicily to Turin, in the footsteps of famous travellers of the past to recount the Bel Paese of the third millennium.

The official opening will be on 23rd of April.
